Boogie Woogie Photography is a company founded by Vanessa Franklin and Xavier Mahe in Hong Kong in 2016 to promote photography in Asia. It is named after Piet Mondrian’s painting Broadway Boogie Woogie (1942-43) and the blues dance music of which he was so fond. The launch of the company responded to the growing potential of Asian photography as more and more collectors, galleries and museum curators eventually engaged in its production and promotion. The company serves as a dedicated platform for photographers and other photography enthusiasts to develop photography projects in Hong Kong and Asia.

Vanessa Franklin is a Hong Kong-based French photographer who appeared to participate in Asian photography during her sojourn in Japan. Xavier Mahé is a specialist in cultural affairs and communication who contributes to fostering partnerships between France and Hong Kong through photo exhibitions and artists’ residencies, including hosting Le French May in 2019. Both of them deserved credit for promoting photography in Hong Kong and even Asia.
