wamono consists of wa = Japan and mono = hand-made pieces / oneness. In keeping with its name, wamono art focuses on introducing emerging Japanese artists through their ambitions, experiences, philosophies, souls, aesthetics and uniqueness all represented in their hand-crafted original art pieces. Tokyo-based Director and Art Consultant Karen Yoneyama previously worked at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. She has played a key role in the dissemination of Japanese arts, especially bamboo arts by talented young artists in Oita Prefecture. Director Noriko Nakagawa grew up in Kanazawa, a city rich in arts and crafts. After studying in France, she moved to Hong Kong. She is passionate about introducing hidden Japanese arts and crafts to the world outside Japan.
