The China Exploration & Research Society (CERS) is the pre-eminent non-profit organisation in exploration, research, conservation of nature and culture, and education about remote China and its adjacent areas. The mission of CERS is to enrich the understanding of China’s cultural and natural heritage. Founder and President, Wong How Man was born in Hong and worked as an explorer/author/photographer for National Geographic and since 1986, head of CERS. He has been credited with, among other accomplishments, the discovery of a new source for the Yangtze River. CERS leads in geographic exploration in China, research and conservation of endangered species and the preservation of important architecture and archaeological sites. CERS’ vision is to become a model for equitable conservation, complementing sustainable development in the 21st century.
